Oi pessoal, hoje eu gostaria de falar sobre um recurso poderoso para quem está estudando Inglês, os Instant Messaging (IM). De acordo com a Wikipedia:
Instant messaging or IM is a form of real-time communication between two or more people based on typed text. The text is conveyed via computers connected over a network such as the Internet.
Na prática os IM’s são os famosos: MSN Messenger, Yahoo Mesenger, Google Talk, AOL Instant Messenger, entre outros. A utilização desses programas permite o desenvolvimento de um raciocínio rápido, situação bem parecida com uma conversa informal. Veja abaixo algumas partes da conversa que tive com Adam (native English speaker), um amigo Americano.
Neste primeiro momento ele me informa que vai fazer uma viagem no dia de Ação de Graças.
Adam – USA – I am going to California on thursday
Alessandro – What are you going to do there?
Adam – USA – Visit my family
Alessandro – Great Adam…
Adam – USA – I am going for Thanksgiving
Adam – USA – I have to be at the airport on Thursday when it opens at five AM because the flight leaves at 5:45
Alessandro – Very early morning..
Adam – USA – yes, but I get to California before noon

Este diálogo acontece no dia da viagem antes de Adam sair de casa para o aeroporto.
Alessandro – Are you at the airport?
Adam – USA – no
Adam – USA – it is 4:30
Adam – USA – early still
Alessandro – Happy thanksgiving!!!

Alessandro – oh, of course.

Alessandro – yes. You told me
Adam – USA – then I have to sit there for about two hours :(
Alessandro – Have a good trip, Adam
Adam – USA – it’s 1:30 AM at my destination
Adam – USA – no

Este diálogo acontece 2 horas depois. Adam tinha acabado de chegar ao aeroporto de Charlotte para uma escala. Ele começa dizendo que estava utilizando a Rede Wireless do aeroporto, de graça.
Adam – USA – hi
Alessandro – Where are you right now?
Adam – USA – Charlotte
Adam – USA – the airport has a free wireless network…
Adam – USA – I have never seen a place that had free internet…
Alessandro – cool

Pois é galera, o que me deixou impressionado foi o nível de controle do espaço aéreo Americano. Dá uma olhada: No Site Este site informa o ponto onde uma aeronave se encontra neste exato momento. Isso permitiu que eu fizesse até uma brincadeira. Eu consegui acompanhar a aeronave que ele estava esperando. Quando ela chegou lá no aeroporto eu disse: Olhe pela janela, o seu avião chegou. Ele realmente estava pousando!! ;-) Show de bola! A foto acima foi enviada pelo próprio Adam.

ps.: 21:07 – A companhia aérea perdeu a bagagem de Adam, ele está aguardando para ver se chega no próximo vôo vindo de Charleston. :-(
